Stop & Shop New York Metro Division Partners With Memorial Sloan-Kettering to Help Fight Pediatric Cancer
FAIRFIELD, Conn., April 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today through July 14, Stop & Shop customers will have the opportunity to help support pediatric cancer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center through Stop & Shop's annual Triple Winner Game®. Customers who make a $1 contribution to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center receive a Triple Winner scratch ticket and can win free store products, gift cards or cash prizes up to $10,000.
Stop & Shop has raised more than $50 million through the Triple Winner Game since 1991. The Triple Winner Program has become a national model of how corporations and consumers can partner together to raise millions to save lives and make a difference in its efforts to find a cure for pediatric cancer. Stop & Shop, with support from the New York Yankees in the New York Metro Division, has pledged to raise $1.5 million this year.
"Stop & Shop is enormously proud to be part of the team that is forcing pediatric cancer to retreat. Triple Winner has become a campaign that has saved lives, created research paths and provided genuine hope to families waiting for a cure," said Ron Onorato, Division President of Stop & Shop's NY Metro Division. "There is now a proud and growing 'Triple Winner' family of young people who have a bright future because we have been able to put dollars into cancer treatment and research. I can't think of a better reward for everyone who continues to make this campaign a success."
Edy's Grand Ice Cream is teaming up again with Stop & Shop for a special fund-raising day on Saturday, April 30, 2011 to support the Triple Winner fight against childhood cancer. Several of Edy's brands of single-serve ice cream cups, shakes and smoothies are participating in a special program benefitting Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in the New York Metro Division. Edy's will donate $.05 for every single-serve cup, shake or smoothie sold between April 15 - June 9, 2011 to Sloan-Kettering, with no limitation on the amount donated during this time frame. Last year, Edy's raised over $198,000 and hopes to raise even more this year with the community's help.
As one of the world's premier cancer centers, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and superb educational programs. The close collaboration between their physicians and scientists is one of its unique strengths, enabling them to provide patients with the best care available today as they work to discover more effective strategies to prevent, control, and ultimately cure cancer in the future. Stop & Shop remains the largest corporate donor to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
