Steve Mackin Named Chief Operating Officer for Cancer Treatment Centers of America

CTCA Solidifies New Leadership Team and Positions Organization for Future Growth

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Steve Mackin has been named Chief Operating Officer for Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA). Mackin formerly served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southwestern Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  During his tenure at Southwestern, Mackin was responsible for the expansion of technology and new talent acquisition while integrating the hospital into the Tulsa community. In addition, Mackin was instrumental in the hospital being recognized for the past three years as one of the "Best Places to Work in Oklahoma" by OKC Biz Magazine.

Mackin will report to Cancer Treatment Centers of America President and CEO, Gerard van Grinsven. "Steve has a proven track record for successfully leading strong results oriented teams", said van Grinsven. Mackin joined CTCA in 1998 as the first management fellow. He held various executive positions in Tulsa, including assistant vice president of Oncology Patient Services, vice president of Ancillary Services, chief operating officer, and was then named president and CEO at the Tulsa hospital in 2008. Under Mackin's leadership, the hospital has dramatically expanded its technology platform, such as adding Intraoperative Radiation Therapy and CyberKnife^® VSI™ to its radiation program; implemented new services, such as the Stem Cell Transplant and Cell Therapy Program; and increased the employee and physician base by almost 200 people to help better serve patients. In the past several years, the hospital has experienced record patient satisfaction with an average Net Promoter Score^® of 97.

As strong leader in the Tulsa community, Mackin has served on the board for the United Way Foundation, the Tulsa Community College Foundation and is a past board member for Junior Achievement. He also volunteered his time as the executive chair for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk as well as for Tulsa's Future Committee with the Tulsa Metro Chamber. Mackin is a member of Leadership Tulsa Class 45 and the Young Presidents' Organization.

Assuming Mackin's former role as President and CEO of Southwestern Regional Medical Center is Richard Haldeman. Haldeman comes from Kimmel Cancer Center and Thomas Jefferson University & Hospitals where he held positions of Chief Financial Officer and Senior Administrator of Oncology Services. Haldeman is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. "Richard is exactly the type of leader CTCA looks for," said van Grinsven.
