Start the New Year With a Resolution to 'not Give up' What you Love, Says NEST

Not-for-profit pension provider NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) is urging consumers to keep their passions alive into later life as one of their New Year resolutions. Its research suggests that over 65s often have better social lives than any other age group except the under 25s.

It has launched a heart-warming New Year video as a reminder that Tomorrow's Worth Saving For and there's no age limit to pursuing life's passions. The video includes messages from celebrities including star choreographer Arlene Phillips and legendary Liverpool player Jimmy Case, who know a thing or two about putting their best foot forward throughout their lives to keep their passions alive.

In the video the stars meet some of their fans, who've still got it on the dance floor and the football pitch in their 60s and 70s.

Arlene Phillips who stars in the video, said:

'At 70 I still love every minute of what I do and I don't think anything should get in the way of having fun on the dance floor, especially age. Lifelong passions like dance are what make tomorrow worth saving for.'

NEST director of communications and engagement Graham Vidler said,

'Instead of making a resolution to give something up this year, why not resolve to not give up? Resolve to keep doing what you love. The stars of our video are an inspiration to us all to put our best foot forward and whether it's dancing, football or something else, keep that passion alive. By having a goal in mind - to carry on enjoying what you love at any age - it's that much easier to stick to all those sensible resolutions we make at New Year, like keeping fit or saving a bit more money.'

Star choreographer Arlene Phillips and Jimmy Case of the legendary Liverpool side of the 1970s, supported NEST's #StillGotIt campaign to find Britain's best over-60s dancers and footballers.

Entrants from across the country competed for the chance to meet their heroes and in December 2013ten lucky winners took part in a dance day at London's Pineapple Studios and a football extravaganza at the National Football Museum with Jimmy Case as well as former Chelsea hard man Ron 'Chopper' Harris, former Everton manager Howard Kendall,former Everton star Joe Royle, and Mike Summerbee, who played for England eight times while also playing for the successful Manchester City side of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
