StandUnited Celebrates First-Year Victories: 1,000 Petitions, 530,000 Signatures

RESTON, Va., March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- StandUnited, an online petition platform that is leveling the playing field for supporters of individual liberty, free enterprise and limited government, celebrates its first anniversary at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference March 2-5 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center near Washington, D.C.

"The conventional wisdom is that right-of-center activists don't do petitions,"said Paul Van Remortel, senior product manager at Intermarkets, StandUnited's parent company. "But in our first year of operation, StandUnited is proving that to be a myth. It's not that supporters of free enterprise and limited government don't understand the impact petitions can have, it's that they haven't had a platform just for them. Until StandUnited."

Since launching in 2015, StandUnited has hosted more than 1,000 petitions that have together earned more than 530,000 signatures. Top organizations such as the Republican National Committee, Judicial Watch and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have adopted the StandUnited platform for their petitions.

"StandUnited is the only open petition platform created specifically for conservatives — anyone with a cause can create or sign one," said Van Remortel. For example, successful national campaigns in 2015 petitioned Congress to repeal the Medical Device Tax created under ObamaCare, reject new trade agreements that harmed American workers, and demand that Hillary Clinton turn over her private email server, among others. At the state level, grassroots activists in Portsmouth, Va., used the StandUnited platform to successfully save the city's Confederate War Memorial.

Other popular campaigns have included petitions to support term limits for Congress, to fight the federal takeover of education and oppose Common Core, to build the Keystone Pipeline and to award Chris Kyle with the Congressional Medal of Honor.
