BOULDER, Colo., June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As the housing market continues its greatest surge in nearly a decade, SQFTx, Inc. today announced the national launch of SQFT (Square Feet), the first do-it-yourself, fully transactional real estate app that brings the entire home-buying and selling experience to your mobile device. Now available nationwide, SQFT allows users to personally create a professional house listing using only their smartphone. The listing is then posted to MLS and more than 450 real estate sites, including Trulia and Zillow, completely free of charge. From there, homebuyers are able to view the listing, schedule showings, make offers and securely complete the transaction using only the SQFT platform.
The app was designed to reduce high broker commissions that come from buying and selling a house. By empowering the buyer and seller to list and purchase the home via the app, SQFT reduces agent commissions from the traditional six percent down to as little as one percent. On the sale of a $500,000 home, SQFT will save sellers upwards of $25,000 in real estate commissions.
"Every other industry seems to be simplifying the user experience except for real estate. The current model of having to rely completely on a real estate agent working for commission has existed for too long and consumers want to be empowered throughout the process," said James Simpson, co-founder and CEO, SQFTx. "The SQFT app streamlines the real estate process, allowing buyers and sellers to communicate directly with one another, negotiate the sale and take back control of the home buying experience."
The SQFT portal features a step-by-step listing process for sellers to include professional photos and features of their house, as well as their asking price. Buyers can obtain prequalification directly from the app through SQFT's partnership with Citywide Home Loans, and electronic signature functionality allows both parties to finalize the contact from the comfort of their own home. SQFT's team of independently operated licensed real estate agents are available to guide and support both the buyer and seller from posting to closing, all for a fraction of the commission. Now, for the first time, the entire home selling process – listing, showing, negotiating and closing – can be conducted using just your smartphone.
"Your home is likely the biggest financial investment you'll ever make and nobody knows your home better than you. So why turn the job of representing it over to a stranger? You can act as your own agent with SQFT and our locally licensed broker affiliates supporting you every step of the way," Simpson said. "SQFT's technology brings the real estate process into the modern age, giving the home seller a true voice in the process, connecting them with buyers and transferring tremendous savings by eliminating the excess cost of a real estate agent acting as middle man between seller and brokerage."
SQFT is currently available in 50 states, 18 of which include affiliates.
