SportsManias Welcomes Fanatics To "DieHard Nation"
New Blog Hosted By Former Epic Meal Time Star 'Muscles Glasses' Features YouTube Series Profiling Diehard Sports Fans Across the Country
MIAMI, Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SportsManias, the diehard sports fan's go-to source for team news, unveiled today its "DieHard Nation" blog, featuring exclusive content from its popular SportsManias DieHard Tour, a YouTube series that profiles the fan experience at NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and NCAA games across the country. Alex Perrault, formerly known as 'Muscles Glasses' of Epic Meal Time, hosts the weekly vlog-style series as he experiences diehard sport fan culture on an ambitious, cross-country road trip, with all previous and upcoming episodes being showcased on the brand-new "DieHard Nation" blog in an interactive map format.
During the course of the 2014 NFL Regular Season, Perrault visited 12 NFL cities (13 teams total), tailgating with diehard fans of the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Redskins, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins, profiling the wild fan groups, tricked-out vehicles, tailgating games and creative food that make tailgating in every city different.
"I've done some pretty neat things in my career, but getting to travel cross-country, meet and tailgate with a different fanbase every week for a year? It doesn't get better than that," said Perrault. "Over the past four months, I tailgated in a hot tub in the dead of winter in Detroit; I took in a game of 'football bowling' in Buffalo; I ate pork chips in D.C. I watched football on a flat-screen TV – in a customized van in Cleveland! I have a new appreciation for what makes up a diehard fan and am thrilled to be able to share my adventures in 'DieHard Nation'. The craziest part? It's only going to get even better from here."
Following the completion of the NFL DieHard Tour, Perrault traveled to Los Angeles for a special five-part Tournament of Roses DieHard Tour Series, chronicling the festivities that make up the Rose Bowl experience from the float decorations to player preparations to victory celebrations.
"News aggregators don't have a reputation for releasing their own original content, so we're flipping that stereotype on its head," said Vicente Fernandez, co-founder of SportsManias. "We serve the world's most diehard sports fans with news directly from beat writers. Now, we're going straight to the fans with one of YouTube's favorite stars. We're a technology company at heart, and we're going to completely change what it means to 'engage' your user base."
SportsManias will release weekly episodes every Thursday on its "DieHard Nation" blog and in conjunction with the Whistle Sports Network, a top destination for sports coverage and content on YouTube, Xbox 360 and social media, with nearly 12.3 million subscribers.
