"The holiday season is a time when everyone wants to give back, however, sometimes it's hard to find the time to give," explained Mickey Marraffino, Regional Marketing Director of South Bay Galleria. "Our Galleria Guests Give Back program allows us to provide the community with an opportunity to easily and quickly give back to two incredible local organizations, while completing their own holiday shopping."
Guests at South Bay Galleria will have two ways to give back this holiday season, starting December 7.
Walk with Sally, a special non-profit group that connects mentors with children whose parents and siblings have cancer, will offer a "Giving Tree" from December 7 to December 20 located in the Nordstrom Wing, Level 1, in order to collect much-needed adult gift donations. The organization is seeking donation of adult gifts so that the mentors at the organization can help children pick out gifts for their parents and siblings who have, or have survived cancer.
In addition, Cheer for Children, a non-profit that assists local families in need of temporary help with food, warm clothing, shoes and haircuts, will host an "Angel Tree" from December 7 to December 22. Shoppers are invited to donate unwrapped toys and gifts for children and teens by placing donations under the Angel Tree. The Angel Tree will be located in the Food Court, Level 3.
Community Members Invited To Kick-Off The Season of Giving on December 7
To kick off this season of giving, South Bay Galleria invites the community to take part in its annual 1,000 Points of Light celebration on December 7. Families and local community members will have the chance to join together for a celebration of peace and joy, while singing carols and illuminating the center with festive lights, and candles, led by the Journey of Faith Adult and Kids Choir.
"There is nothing more inspiring than coming together as a community to share the spirit of the season," says Marraffino. "Our goal is to have 1,000 community members participate in this celebration of peace and joy, while representing one point of light in the community."
The first 1,000 guests to register will receive a free LED candle to hold while they sing, as well as a free t-shirt.
In addition, non-profit organizations are invited to compete for South Bay Galleria gift cards by bringing the largest group of attendees to sing carols and participate. After signing in, the non-profit groups with the largest amount of attendees will receive a $500, $250 and $100 Galleria Gift Card based on their attendance.
The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. with free Cookie Decorating (to the first 100 participants) presented by Walk with Sally. Check in for event will also begin at 3:30 p.m. near Guest Services, Level 1, Nordstrom wing, where guests can pick up their free LED candle, t-shirt and song sheet. At 5:30 p.m., the singing begins.
