GAITHERSBURG, Md., June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life Services, announced that its nine Employee Business Resource Groups have each awarded a $5,000 charitable grant to a community organization.
Sodexo employees organize the Employee Business Resource Groups based on shared experiences. Each group provides a positive forum for professional development and contributes to the success of the company's diversity efforts. Resource groups are organized around a common dimension of diversity and are created by employees who want to raise awareness within Sodexo regarding an identity group.
"Employee Business Resource Groups enable employees to feel supported personally and professionally. It is an important aspect of the Diversity & Inclusion efforts at Sodexo," said John Laveck, Sodexo Director of Employee Business Resource Groups. "This award grant process gave each resource group the autonomy to support an organization that represents the ideals that are so important to the group's members."
Sodexo's Employee Business Resource Groups include:

- HONOR - Honoring our Nation's finest with Opportunity and Respect
- i-Gen - Intergenerational Network Group
- NAAC - Native American and Aboriginal
- PANG - Pan-Asian Employee Network Group
- PRIDE - People Respecting Individuality, Diversity and Equality
- SOAR - Sodexo Organization for disAbilities Resources
- SOL - Sodexo Organization of Latinos
- WiNG - Women's Network Group
Sodexo asked each group's leadership team to choose a community organization that aligns with their mission and values. The organizations include: Bottom Line, Soldiers Who Salsa, Gaithersburg Meals On Wheels, Partnership with Native Americans, APIASF, Los Angeles LBGT Center, USBLN, American Diabetes Association National Capital Area and Girls, Inc. The organizations expressed their gratitude for Sodexo's contributions and each resource groups' commitment to furthering the organizations' goals.
Funds for the award grants were generated through the proceeds from Sodexo's Technology Recycling Program, which demonstrates Sodexo's commitment to corporate sustainability. Both Sodexo's diversity and inclusion and corporate sustainability efforts are part of Sodexo's Better Tomorrow Plan, representing the company's commitment to be a responsible employer, promote nutrition, health and wellness, engage with local communities and protect the environment.
