Social Discovery Ventures Starts the Season of Giving With a Donation to Help Prevent Violence Against Women
NEW YORK, Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Social Discovery Ventures (SDV) is proud to announce a new partnership with Women for Women International (WfWI), an organization that helps the most marginalized women in conflict-affected countries create sustainable change for themselves, their families, and their communities.
WfWI's program provides women with a safe place to learn how to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their homes and communities, and connect to networks for support. WfWI works directly with women in eight countries affected by war and conflict such as Afghanistan, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
"The generous contribution of Social Discovery Ventures will help Women for Women International to provide women with access to support, tools, and life-changing skills to move from crisis and isolation to stability and empowerment," says WfWI's Colleen Zakrewsky.
Social Discovery Ventures is joining Women for Women International as part of their commitment to help those impacted by war and conflict. This year, SDV engaged in regional activism by making charitable contributions to the victims of the ongoing war in Eastern Ukraine. With this partnership, SDV is expanding its charitable endeavors globally.
"We are honored to be a part of such a dynamic program and we thank Women for Women International for giving us the opportunity to support women around the world," said Dmitry Volkov, Co-founder of Social Discovery Ventures. "We believe that strengthening a community of women with the power of knowledge is the very best initiative to take in efforts to make a difference in any environment. This is why we have chosen to provide assistance to WfWI."

About Women for Women International
Since 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) has provided women survivors of war, civil strife, and other conflicts with resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency. WfWI delivers these resources through a tiered, yearlong program that begins with direct financial aid and emotional support. Participants also learn about their legal rights; receive life-skills training such as health awareness, numeracy, budgeting and saving, decision-making and negotiation, and civic participation; learn business and vocational skills; and gain access to income-generating activities where they can apply those skills and begin moving towards economic stability. Along with helping more than 420,000 women in the past 20 years to rebuild their own lives and those of their families and communities after war, WfWI uses its voice to call global attention to the unique role that women play in advancing peace throughout society. WfWI works in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
