SAN JACINTO, Calif., October 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Under the watchful eye of Guinness Book of World Records official adjudicator Michael Empric and the City of Hemet Mayor Linda Krupa, patrons and VIP's of San Jacinto, California's Soboba Casino gathered in the casino's arena in an attempt to officially break the world record of the "Most People Gold Panning". Guests of the casino who qualified during the month of October, including the day of the event, began checking in to the world record attempt area for station assignment and to select their locally sourced lucky bag of "pay dirt" or gold concentrate at approximately 3 PM. Once all 237 participants were in place, they were given a tutorial and demonstration by the one and only Parker Schnabel of Discovery Channel's hit TV show "Gold Rush."
Once the horn sounded, the panning for gold was underway! All 237 participants took home real gold, panned and sourced in the Inland Empire. After the gold was panned and collected, all participants received a certificate of participation and took their gold home. When all of the official overseers or "stewards" tally sheets were added together and certified, adjudicator Michael Empric took the stage to officially announce and present the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians Tribal Vice-Chairman, Isaiah Vivanco , Tribal Leadership, the Casino's General Manager, Scott Sirois and the Casino's Director of Marketing Michael J. Broderick with the official Guinness World Record certificate stating that Soboba Casino and the 235 participants who successfully finished the event are the new Guinness Book of World Records holder for the "Most People Gold Panning." The casino beat the old record by 135.
Guinness World Records Adjudicator Michael Empric, stated, "I am very excited to be here for this attempt." He continued, "This was not an easy record to break, it takes a lot of organization and patience."
The Tribe, San Jacinto California, all of the participants in attendance and Soboba Casino will forever be part of history and enter the archives of Guinness Book of World Records. A significant feat to honor a great community rich in history and tradition, not to mention gold!
Afterwards, a free "meet and greet" with Parker Schnabel was held inside the casino where his friends and fans gathered to get a picture with him as well as an autograph.
According to Soboba Casino's General Manager Scott Sirois, "The event went off without a hitch and we couldn't have done it without the volunteers from the Gold Prospectors Association of America Inc., Legends Prospecting Supplies Company, and of course our 237 participants including our special guest Parker Schnabel!"
