SNTE Selects Declara as Technology Platform for Mexico Teacher Development

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Declara, a company focused on personalized learning, today announced that it has been selected by Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Education (SNTE), the largest teachers union in Mexico and Latin America, as the technology platform for teacher professional development. SNTE plans to train 1.6 million teachers and administrators on the Declara platform giving them the skills required to meet the needs of a fast-changing global economy.

The new initiative is in response to Mexico's sweeping education reforms as the country prepares its teachers to transform its education system over the coming years. The first milestone will be a new national test that teachers will take in July to demonstrate their mastery of skills. In addition to teachers, SNTE plans to expand the program to training specialists and parents over time.

The Declara platform uses semantic search and predictive analytics to surface the right content at the right time for individuals. In time, the Declara platform learns more about an individual's patterns and can connect a SNTE teacher to the right expert in their school; a colleague's posts on the topic; or the right content on a blog out of another school system. In this way, not only does the individual learn but the entire teacher community learns together, making everyone smarter and more knowledgeable.
