SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Apparently projections for another La Nina-influenced winter season doesn't just mean epic snowfall, it likely means another year of record-breaking snowsports industry sales, too. In line with this, same-store online sales for Shopatron snowsports brands increased 53% on average in Q3 2011 over the same period 2010. And it's not even winter yet.

In addition to this growth in sales, Shopatron also added 10 snowsports brands in the three-month quarter ending September 30, rounding out their industry total to 80 brands using Shopatron's retail-integrated eCommerce solution.
Overall the snowsports industry is in good health. In August, SnowSports.org reported that last season's sales reached a record $3.3 billion, split nearly evenly between apparel ($1.2 billion), equipment ($902 million) and accessories ($1.2 billion).
Snowsports is one of Shopatron's most active industries, anchored by industry mainstays like K2, Tecnica Group and Rossignol, and supported by many forward-thinking brands that join every year, including brands like Powderhorn, QuickPoles, Venture Snowboards and many others. Shopatron's eCommerce solution not only offers these brands the opportunity to seamlessly pass online sales to their valued retailers for fulfillment, but also exposure to Shopatron's network of 2,700 snowsports retailers who often opt to carry new brands once they see them in the order exchange.
"Snowsports brands value their dealers because they provide important services and advice to the customer, so naturally, Shopatron's retail-integrated eCommerce model has been well received in the industry," explains Shopatron's Founder and CEO, Ed Stevens. "And with more than half of all shoppers now researching and/or completing their purchases online, neither brands nor retailers can afford to ignore this important sales channel. We don't expect our expansion in the industry to slow down any time soon."
