Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat Named a Next Frontier in Food by Chobani
Snow Monkey Announces Participation in The Second Class of Chobani Food Incubator
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Snow Monkey, the health food startup that has reinvented 'ice cream,' is pleased to announce their participation in the second class of Chobani's Food Incubator program. Loaded with luscious taste and packed with protein, Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat has created an 'ice cream' so healthy, you can have it for breakfast. Crafted with all--natural, plant-based ingredients, the team at Snow Monkey is on a mission to change the way America eats one pint at a time.
Selected from more than 550 applicants, Snow Monkey is one of seven companies handpicked by Chobani's CEO Hamdi Ulukaya and his executive team to participate in this year's program. The class of 2017 is comprised of companies that are disrupting, innovating and inspiring new food categories. Searching for purpose-driven entrepreneurs whose business models are rooted in socially positive initiatives, Chobani seeks to partner with small food brands and provide them the resources they need to challenge big food companies.
"We're so excited to have Snow Monkey as part of the second class of the Chobani Food Incubator, said Jackie Miller, Director of the Chobani Food Incubator. "Snow Monkey and the other 6 companies comprising this class represent the next frontier of food. These are mission based companies looking to challenge big food and bring better food to more people."
Launched in January 2017, Snow Monkey is committed to empowering consumers to make healthier choices by reimagining staple favorites as delicious fuel for an active life. Their plant-based, allergen-free recipe is crafted from only seven natural superfood ingredients, loaded with fiber and packed with antioxidants. Proudly vegan, paleo, and non-GMO, an entire pint of Snow Monkey has 21g of protein and just under 400 calories.
Brought to life by two female entrepreneurs, who created the disruptive recipe in college, Rachel Geicke and Mariana Ferreira were inspired to create Snow Monkey after their search for a truly healthy frozen treat came up empty. As former collegiate athletes, Geicke and Ferreira needed a nutritious snack that would supercharge their fitness endeavors without sacrificing deliciousness. Snow Monkey was born out of love and necessity in their Boston University apartment.
"Partnering with Chobani is an opportunity of a lifetime," says Geicke and Ferreira. "Our team is thrilled to have such significant validation at such an early stage and we look forward to not only working alongside Chobani toward our goal of changing the way America eats, but also educating America about mindful food choices in the process."
The second Chobani Food Incubator class will run from September 2017 to December 2017, based out of a dedicated space designed for the Incubator at Chobani's sales and marketing offices in New York, NY.
