SmartSource Xpress Reaches Top 20 List of Free Lifestyle Applications
IPAD COUPONING APP REACHES #16 IN ITUNES STORE
NEW YORK, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- News America Marketing (NAM), the premier publisher of coupons in the U.S. and Canada, producing over 165 billion coupons annually, today announced that its iPad couponing application, SmartSource Xpress, is gaining a steady following among tech-savvy shoppers, with thousands downloading the free digital coupon application in the past several days. The app is solidly in the top 20 of the Free Lifestyle App category in the iTunes Store – making it the highest ranked coupon app on the list.
News America Marketing, a division of News Corporation (NASDAQ: NWS), publishes the popular Sunday coupon insert, SmartSource Magazine, which is delivered to over 74 million homes each week, as well as the online coupon site, SmartSource.com. This past March, the couponing powerhouse launched SmartSource Xpress, a free savings application currently available on iPads. The app features a digital insert similar to the printed one found in Sunday papers nationwide, with offers that can be loaded onto shopper loyalty cards with a tap of the screen.
"With over 500,000 iPad apps in the App Store, breaking into the top 20 in any category is a coveted achievement," said Henri Lellouche, SVP, Digital, News America Marketing. "Shoppers are constantly looking for new ways to save and SmartSource Xpress makes it faster, easier and more fun than ever before. And with approximately $100 in savings available from top household brands at any given time, we know we're delivering value to consumers."
After downloading the app, shoppers can flip through the digital magazine's brilliantly rendered pages, with selected offers being redeemed automatically at checkout through Direct-to-Card™ (D2C) technology, eliminating the fear of forgetting clipped coupons at home. Additionally, SmartSource Xpress allows shoppers to track how much they've saved, see what coupons have been clipped, and email the list of clipped coupons to themselves to have handy while shopping.
SmartSource Xpress is available for free in the iTunes App Store and can be used at nearly 4,000 stores nationwide, including Kroger, ShopRite, and Giant Eagle, with additional stores coming online this summer.
