SmartSource Coupon Publisher News America Marketing to Send Two Marines to Super Bowl XLVI
NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sergeant Sheena Adams and Master Sergeant David Jarvis, of the U.S. Marine Corps, will attend the Super Bowl and the weekend-long festivities leading up to the game at the invitation of News America Marketing which operates the popular online consumer coupon site SmartSource.com and publishes the Sunday coupon insert SmartSource Magazine to over 74 million homes almost every week.
Adams, originally from Kauai, HI, and Jarvis, who hails from Bremerton, Wash., will be transported to and from the bases where they are currently stationed to Indianapolis for this year's Super Bowl. There they will be warmly greeted by their News America Marketing hosts and treated to a four night stay at a hotel just outside downtown Indianapolis. Both service members will receive tickets to the Super Bowl game as well as an extensive itinerary of events and entertainment throughout the weekend, including invitations to the NFL's Super Bowl Tailgate Party and News America Marketing's own Super Bowl Kick Off Party on Friday Night, where they will be recognized on stage and thanked for their service in the armed forces. Adams plans to bring her husband, Chad, and Jarvis will be joined by his wife and fellow Marine, Chief Warrant Officer-3 Tina Jarvis.
"We are honored that the Marines have allowed us to bring along two incredibly deserving service members for the fourth year in a row. Many of our own employees and clients are former service men and women, and the incredible bravery, commitment and selflessness that all members of the Armed Forces exhibit to protect our country is an inspiration. While a trip to the Super Bowl is a small gift compared to their sacrifice, it is a representation of our appreciation for all that they do," said Chris Mixson, President of News America Marketing. "We are looking forward to a weekend full of patriotism and the great American sport of football."
Sergeant Adams earned her second Navy and Marine Achievement Medal and a Combat Ribbon after completing a deployment with the Female Engagement Team in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. In 2011, she returned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Advisor Training Cell, where she serves dual roles as Team Advisor/Liaison and Lead Female Engagement Team instructor.
Master Sergeant Jarvis was awarded both the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Combat Distinction for his actions in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he went on 70 combat patrols and was involved in 40 direct engagements with Taliban forces. MSgt Jarvis is currently a Battalion Training Chief and has served for 16 years.
Adams and Jarvis were chosen out of more than 130,000 active-duty enlisted Marines by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, the top enlisted Marine. The Marines were recommended by their commanding officers for their leadership, accomplishments and dedication to their units.
