Polaroid Teams Up with Professional Photographers to Launch Polaroid University
MIAMI, Dec. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid is offering aspiring photographers everywhere the opportunity to learn photography from the pros with the launch of Polaroid University. Polaroid University is a comprehensive online photography education program available at www.polaroiduniversity.com that allows photographers of all skill levels to learn photography and improve their skills at their own pace. Founded by renowned, award-winning professional photographer Marc Serota, Polaroid University teaches students to master the camera—starting with smartphones and expanding to action cameras, DSLRs and other cameras—in order to make better moments.
"In today's digital age, a consumer does not need to own a high-end camera to be considered a photographer," said Serota. "The latest smartphone technology puts a powerful camera in the hands of millions of people across the country. Americans last year took over 100 billion digital photographs. It's our goal at Polaroid University to teach everyone how to take high-quality photographs and video footage on any subject using any camera technology. No matter if they're using a smartphone, action camera, Polaroid instant camera or high-end DSLR, we want to offer our students the tools to document and share their lives in the best way possible."
To launch the program, Polaroid University released today their first video episode, "How to use the NEW iPhone", at www.polaroiduniversity.com. Taught by Serota, the video demonstrates to iPhone 6s smartphone users cool techniques and how to take the best photos on their new device. Additional videos are coming to the site shortly and cover topics such as taking vacation photos, photographing your kids and taking the best pet photos, all using a smartphone.
Throughout the remainder of 2015, Polaroid University will roll out an additional 20 online photography episodes focusing primarily on smartphone photography, teaching consumers how to get most out of the cameras on their mobile devices. In 2016, Polaroid University will complete its first online photography collection of 50 plus episodes on all genres and subjects, expanding their offering to cover action camera, drone, DSLR, and other forms of photography.
All Polaroid University videos are instructed by highly skilled professional photographers, including Polaroid University founder Serota who is well-known for his work in sports, fashion and entertainment photography. Joining Serota will be renowned photojournalist Rick Friedman, photography instructor and nature photographer Robert Sullivan, wedding/portrait/children photographer Jannette De Llanos, as well as 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner Patrick Farrell, ZOO Miami Curator Ron Magill, and many others. Polaroid University videos will feature episode hosts including Fox Sports journalist Hanna Ostapchuk, and portrait photographer LaRae Lobdell.
"Polaroid has been committed to making it easier for people to capture and share their memorable moments, whether it be through the latest innovative technology or expert know-how," commented Scott W. Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid. "Polaroid University provides everyone with easy access to expert photography knowledge. The fun and entertaining online classes are designed to help every photographer, no matter the skill level, take photographs and videos that they're proud to share with their loved ones."
Polaroid University will offer an annual membership to watch all episodes for $19.95. The Polaroid University episode "How to use the NEW iPhone" is currently available for free at www.polaroiduniversity.com.
