Singer and Soap Opera Star PeeWee Joins McDonald's(R) 2010 FiestaTour Exhibit Stops in High Schools Across the Country
OAK BROOK, Ill., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonald's® announced today that singer and actor PeeWee will be joining the 2010 FiestaTour: McDonald's® Music Experience during the tour's high school visits across the country, starting on April 20, 2010 at South Miami High School in Miami. Other stops throughout the year will include high schools in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York.
"At McDonald's, we are delighted to be working with PeeWee to provide this great experience to high school students. He is a great example of our young generation of talented Latino artists; his drive to succeed is a powerful and inspirational story," said Cristina Vilella, Director of Marketing, McDonald's USA.
During the school visits, PeeWee will talk to students about the importance of education and pursuing goals and dreams, perform a couple of songs and sign autographs. "Having the opportunity to talk to students about the importance of education will be an experience I will always cherish," said PeeWee. "I am honored to participate in this unique tour that celebrates Latin music and I applaud McDonald's for providing this experience that so many music fans will enjoy across the country."
PeeWee was the former lead singer of the cumbia band Kumbia All Starz. In 2008, PeeWee became a solo artist, his debut album Yo Soy was released in 2009 and he recently participated in the Mexican soap opera Camaleones.
About FiestaTour McDonald's® Music Experience
In its fourth year, FiestaTour McDonald's® is a traveling music exhibit that offers guests an up close and personal view of memorabilia belonging to some of the most popular Latin music artists. The exhibit includes outfits, accessories, photos and videos from the most popular red carpet moments in Latin music. Special memorabilia included in the exhibit are five full-length mannequin displays that feature outfits worn by top artists such as PeeWee, Thalia, Juan Gabriel, Juanes, and Patricia Manterola. Wall displays also include guitars, gold albums and shoes featuring artists such as Chayanne, Daddy Yankee, Tito "El Bambino", David Bisbal, Pepe Aguilar, among others.
A special feature of this year's exhibit is the Somos El Mundo (We Are the World) Wall exclusively on display at the FiestaTour McDonald's. The exhibit includes an autographed poster and song sheets of the more than 50 Latino artists who reunited for the Spanish recording of the song in benefit of Haiti earthquake relief efforts.
The FiestaTour McDonald's area also includes outdoor interactive stations where visitors can listen to their favorite music at the multiple music stations; strike a pose at the "Ultimate Moment" photo center; play the trivia game about Latin music and the RMHC®/HACER® scholarship program for a chance to win giveaways; or visit the kids area where children can showcase their coloring talents.
McDonald's is also a returning presenting sponsor of the 11th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards and is bringing the excitement of the awards directly to the fans through the Latin GRAMMY® Street Parties, which feature performances by established as well as up-and-coming artists.
