Singaporean-led DDB Wins Agency of the Year
Health Promotion Board and Joji Jacob take top honors in company and individual categories
SINGAPORE, Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- DDB Group Singapore was named Advertising Agency of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards 2010, hosted by the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS). The results, which were announced at the gala event on Tuesday evening, also saw DDB clinch top honors in other categories – its client, the Singapore Health Promotion Board (HPB) was named Advertiser of the Year, while Executive Creative Director, Joji Jacob, took home the Creative Director of the Year award.
David Tang, President and CEO of DDB Group Singapore, said, "DDB is thrilled to be Agency of the Year in what has been a dramatic year of changes. And we've changed greatly to be more innovative, more digital and more adventurous with our marketing solutions. It's fantastic our client Health Promotion Board also won Best Advertiser. We're seeing how creativity can be harnessed to make brands more effective."
DDB's climb to the top spot as Advertising Agency of the Year, ahead of Ogilvy and Y&R, is due to the energy and innovation in the agency's work. Led by Singaporeans David Tang and Neil Johnson, they have prevailed in an industry where international ad agencies tend to be led by expats. The agency also swept the Singapore Effies and the local creative award shows, achieving a Double Championship for both Creativity and Effectiveness.
In the individual award category, Joji Jacob, Executive Creative Director of DDB and RAPP Singapore, was named Creative Director of the Year. Recognized and respected for his leadership, management and achievements within the agency and Singapore advertising industry.
The Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards, held on November 16 at the Shangri-la Hotel Singapore, is an annual prestigious award ceremony which recognizes the excellence and outstanding achievements of the Singapore advertising industry. Across 15 categories, the Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards this year attracted a total of 85 entries, all against a backdrop of challenged advertising budgets and economic pressures.
