Silicon Valley Product Design Firm to Hold 24-Hour Design Marathon to Benefit Bay Area Kids During the Holidays and School Year
CAMPBELL, Calif., July 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Aug. 2, 2012, Family Giving Tree (http://www.familygivingtree.org) will team with ZURB, a Silicon Valley-based online product design company, for their annual ZURBwired event.
This year's ZURBwired is the company's fifth annual event of this type. ZURB helps one nonprofit solve a design problem in a 24-hour time crunch and provides an opportunity for the company to give back to its local community. Family Giving Tree, a Milpitas-based nonprofit, fulfills the holiday wishes of children from low-income families and provides backpacks to those in need.
In 24 hours, ZURB will create a brand-new website that works across all devices, mobile and desktop alike. In addition, the company will create new posters, flyers and other marketing materials for the nonprofit's "Millionth Child" campaign. ZURB is excited to share unique design methods that will equip Family Giving Tree with the knowledge to build amazing work on their own for years to come.
ZURB estimates that the total donation of time and effort now exceeds $50,000. Previous participating nonprofits have raised better awareness of their causes through ZURB's own brand of design instruction. Over the years, ZURB has helped these organizations raise more than $500,000.
The ZURBwired event begins on August 2, 2012 at 8AM, and ends on August 3, 2012 at 8AM. It will be held at ZURB's headquarters at 55 North Third Street, Suite 100a, Campbell, CA 95008.
Quotes
"The Elves are excited to partner with the ZURBwired team to launch a new website and highlight a big milestone for our organization; one million children's wishes fulfilled!" said Jennifer "Queen Elf" Cullenbine, Executive Director and Co-founder. "We are prepping coffee pots and stocking up on Diet Coke in order to prepare ourselves for 24 hours of creative brainstorming, web design, marketing campaigns and collaboration!"
"ZURBwired is an idea as much as it is an event," said Bryan Zmijewski, Founder and Chief Instigator of ZURB. "Nonprofits struggle to create momentum when it comes to project work. They depend on waves of generosity and funding. Taking the ZURBwired timeboxed approach is a great way for nonprofits to create huge impact with limited amounts of volunteer time. And nonprofits around the world can use this as a template for future problem solving."
"Family Giving Tree has applied several times and their persistence is a great indicator of their commitment to not only getting some work done, but also getting a crash course in the ZURB design process that they can use it in the future to do even more great work," said Jonathan Smiley, Partner and Design Lead of ZURBwired. "I'm excited to work with their team and I know we're going to do some kick-ass work together."
