CHICAGO, Nov. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ShoppingGives, a Chicago-based retail solution that enables shoppers to give a percentage of their purchases to charity and enables retailers to frictionlessly give back from their shopping cart, announced the successful completion of a seed investment of more than $1.2 million led by Nasrin Thierer of Asset Blue, international investors, and various Chicago angel investors. Just over one year since launching to the public, this oversubscribed funding round has closed ahead of schedule, and is slated for the new year.
Ronny Sage, founder and CEO, originally envisioned ShoppingGives as solely a marketplace model: ShoppingGives would take marketing dollars from retailers seeking placement on the site and then donate a portion of their sales to charities. However, after identifying the opportunity to help retailers compete with AmazonSmile, that model was evolved, building Change Commerce - a digital technology that enables retailers to give back to their customers' nonprofit of choice at checkout and track their return on donations spend, building customer loyalty and trust through charitable giving.
"Our program allows brands to build an authentic relationship with their customers through charitable giving," says Ronny. "This industry-disrupting technology provides a frictionless way for shoppers to give, and retailers to better engage with their customers."
ShoppingGives offers consumers an opportunity to give back all year round, and especially during the holiday season. This past Cyber Weekend and Giving Tuesday, donations for 178 unique nonprofits were captured, bringing their total number since launch to 784 organizations.
ShoppingGives has partnered with over 750 retailers, including Target, Macy's, Walmart, Kohl's, and Home Depot, with each retailer donating up to 40% of each purchase - at no extra cost to the shopper.
