Key Personnel from Testing Service Selected to Discuss Food Safety Issues
FAIRFIELD, N.J., Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- SGS Consumer Testing Services today announced that two managers in the company's food safety division have been selected to speak at the China International Food Safety & Quality Conference being held this week in Shanghai. The conference is designed to facilitate global collaboration on efforts to improve food safety and better protect consumers.
Rob Parrish, Vice President, Global Food, served on a Wednesday keynote panel discussion titled, "How to Strengthen Confidence in the Safety of Food: The Challenges of Communicating the Effectiveness of Efforts by Producers, Processors and Regulators." The panel was chaired by Peter Karim Ben Embarek, Team Leader, Food Safety and Nutrition, for the World Health Organization's China Office.
Michael Zhu, SGS Director of Food in China, is giving a solo presentation today called, "Beyond Compliance: Building a Safe and Sustainable Food Supply Chain." The session will cover current challenges, the role of different players in the supply chain, the importance of third-party involvement in supply chain integration, and how factors such as energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions and social responsibility can be addressed.
