Select Registry Honors Mary and Alan Duxbury with Prestigious Innkeeper of the Year Award
CHARLESTON, S.C., Sept. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mary and Alan Duxbury, owners of the Carlisle House in Carlisle, PA, have been awarded Select Registry's Innkeeper of the Year Award. This prestigious award is bestowed upon a current Select Registry member innkeeper who supports Select Registry in all aspects of the organization, and who represents the best small lodging ownership and management. The competition for this award is high; the Duxburys were chosen from more than 300 Select Registry member properties. It was awarded on September 10th at Select Registry's Membership Conference in Key West, Florida.
Alan and Mary Duxbury's commitment to the hospitality industry is extensive. Since 2004, when they purchased the 1826 building that eventually became the Carlisle House, the inn has been voted the "Best B&B" in the Carlisle three-county area for 11 consecutive years.

Alan and Mary have been dedicated to improving and enhancing Carlisle as a whole; they've both served on regional business and hospitality association boards and committees for more than a decade, including Historic Carlisle Inc., the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce, the Cumberland Valley Lodging Association, the Downtown Carlisle Association, and the Pennsylvania Association of Bed & Breakfast Inns.

Nominees for the Innkeeper of the Year award are peer-nominated by Select Registry's members and are chosen by a task force of fellow innkeepers. To qualify for the award, an innkeeper must 1) be a clearly-defined role model/mentor to other Select Registry innkeepers; 2) provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to the betterment of Select Registry; 3) enthusiastically promote Select Registry by participating in all its programs; 4) demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business; 5) and provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to the betterment of the hospitality industry.
