Despite following standard security best practices, many organizations share similar vulnerabilities across people, processes, and technology. External penetration testing, also known as ethical hacking, is an independent engagement that can help pinpoint common attack vectors and patterns that malicious hackers look for in networks.
Paul Brandau, Managing Consultant, Delta Risk, and Michael Warren, Vice President of Cyber Resiliency Services, Delta Risk, will reveal what they've learned in recent customer engagements, and how to avoid five critical mistakes that can put organizations at risk for compromise. In addition to recommendations on how to combat threats, the presentation will discuss:
- Weaknesses that pen testers and malicious hackers exploit;
- Methods that pen testers use to quickly locate high value assets;
- Vendor-neutral solutions for protecting sensitive information; and
- Why third-party penetration testing is in demand.
"Most presentations on penetration testing focus on how attackers initially get access to a network," said Warren. "In this webinar, we'll go beyond that to discuss in greater detail how malicious hackers abuse non-segmented networks, Local Admin misconfiguration, insecure credential storage, weak service account passwords and malicious code, and other methods to compromise companies."
Both speakers have extensive expertise in cyber security. Brandau has more than 10 years of experience in cyber exercises, operational assessments, and training in offensive network operations. He is a former U.S. Air Force Aggressor and Cyber Operator. Warren has more than 14 years of experience in providing operational assessments, enterprise vulnerability assessments, and training in defensive and offensive network operations. Prior to Delta Risk, he was an active duty U.S. Air Force Communications and Information Engineer Officer.
