Security First Insurance Interns' Efforts Culminate in Donation of Critical Supplies for Halifax Humane Society
ORMOND BEACH, Fla., Aug. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Security First Insurance Company's intern class of 2016 has collected and donated several months' worth of critical supplies ranging from food, bedding, leashes, and money to the Halifax Humane Society. The group of 13 interns created and executed an internal, three-week giving campaign culminating in the donation to the local non-profit chosen by them. The supplies will keep the dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and other homeless pets happy and healthy as they await adoption into their forever homes.
"Our company has a commitment to fostering the education and practical experience of the next generation of Floridians. For the past four years we have been mentoring young talent through our formal internship program," said Frank Molinario, Director of Human Resources. "This summer we challenged our interns to raise funds for a local non-profit and left the strategy, execution and choice of organization up to them. We are proud of the results our team was able to achieve. By exposing our interns to practical, resume-building experience, and offering them insight into local non-profits our hope is that they will pursue careers and give of their time and talent in the state of Florida upon graduation. Social responsibility is a core tenet of our company culture, and our annual internship program not only allows our student leaders to experience giving back, but at the end of each summer they also have the opportunity to present to our senior leadership team. Overall, it provides a solid foundation as they transition from student to young professional." Molinario added.
Amber Marcoux, Community Outreach Director of the Halifax Humane Society added, "We're honored to have been chosen to be the recipient of the hard work, time and dedication of this skilled and motivated group of young professionals and their mentors. Clearly Security First Insurance and its family of employees consider pets to be part of a family, and part of the fabric of our local community. We are proud of being associated with the work of such a public-spirited and caring group of professionals and students. Selfless acts like this continue to build a sense of true compassion in our community, and make us proud to be part of Ormond Beach. "
Security First Insurance has supported the Halifax Humane Society for over the past two years as part of its overall social corporate responsibility and local philanthropic outreach.

Headquartered in Ormond Beach, Fla., Security First Insurance is built on nearly 100 years of history and experience in the industry. The company has an acute understanding of Floridians' vulnerability to natural catastrophe. Company founder, Locke Burt, was serving in the Florida Senate in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew made landfall. It was one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history, leaving behind more than $26 billion in insured losses and a crippled insurance industry. Locke wanted better for the state and its residents and therefore created Security First Insurance. The company now serves policyholders living across the state, storm after storm, year after year.
Security First Insurance has been assigned a Financial Stability Rating® (FSR) of A, Exceptional, from Demotech, Inc. and is strongly committed to improving Florida's homeowners insurance market and initiatives that support and protect residents and communities of the sunshine state.
