TORONTO, Oct. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - SecureKey Technologies, a leading provider of federated identity and authentication solutions, is pleased to announce a collaboration with Intel to enable consumers to access its next-generation, blockchain-based digital identity and attribute sharing technology via traditional web browsers. The technology will make it easier for consumers to verify identity in a secure and private way using laptop and desktop computers enabled with Intel® Software Guard Extensions (SGX).
"We are thrilled to work with Intel to bring consumers a holistic online experience to access the services they want conveniently, securely and privately using their personal mobile devices, laptops and desktops." says Greg Wolfond, Founder and CEO of SecureKey Technologies.
Intel® SGX enables blockchain-based applications to preserve the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive code and data without disrupting the ability of legitimate system software to schedule and manage the use of platform resources.
"Intel® SGX technology can improve blockchain privacy, security and scalability," said Rick Echevarria, Vice President of the Software and Services Group and General Manager of the Platforms Security Division at Intel. "We look forward to collaborating with SecureKey to advance these capabilities and deliver new blockchain innovations to consumers and the industry."
The addition of traditional web browser capabilities will complement the service's existing mobile app, enabling more consumers to quickly access online services, such as bank account creation or new credit application services, with enhanced privacy and security.
"We've been a proud member of the digital identity ecosystem from its inception, and are excited to be working with leaders like SecureKey and Intel to contribute to a solution that improves identity in the digital age" says Rizwan Khalfan, EVP, Chief Digital and Payments Officer, TD Bank Group. "By enabling access via traditional web browsers, in addition to mobile apps, SecureKey is making it easier for customers to use the service how and where it works best for them."
TD, along with Canada's other major financial institutions, have invested in SecureKey to help bring the company's vision of a digital identity ecosystem to life. To bring this new approach to digital identity to market support was also provided through the International Applied Research Program of the Digital ID and Authentication Council of Canada (DIACC) through the Command Control and Interoperability Center for Advanced Data Analytics (CCICADA), the Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (CIAC), and funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate (DHS S&T).
SecureKey and Intel will be providing a live demonstration of the solution at Money 20/20 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Visit booth #1663 to find out more about the solution and how it will improve identity validation and security for users.
