Secretary of State Reminds Pennsylvanians of Today's Deadline to File Objections to Nomination Petitions
HARRISBURG, Pa., March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortés today reminded Pennsylvanians that the Commonwealth Court and the Department of State are both open to file and serve objections. The deadline to file and serve objections is 5 p.m. today.
For objections that must be filed in a court other than Commonwealth Court and served on the county board of election, please check the court of common pleas for their deadline. For a list of county court contact information, visit the PACourts website.
On March 13, Governor Wolf signed an Executive Order to extend the deadline due to an impending severe snowstorm. The executive order extended the deadline for objections to nomination petitions filed by candidates for nomination at the Municipal Primary Election filed with the Commonwealth Court and served on the Secretary of the Commonwealth, or filed with the courts of common pleas and served on the county boards of election, by one additional day for each business day that the office or court is closed.
A severe snowstorm caused the closure on Tuesday of the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg, PA, including the Department of State's Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation, as well as the closure of courts and county election offices across the commonwealth.
