OMAHA, Neb., April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Scooter's Coffee today announced key changes and additions to the company's executive team, which has developed tremendously during Scooter's rapid nationwide expansion efforts.
The company promoted Clay Cox, Chief Operations Officer, to President of Scooter's Coffee. Cox joined Scooter's in early 2014, in anticipation of the company's ambitious expansion plan. He brought more than 20 years of high-level operations experience and a proven track record in building small and mid-sized companies to become national, reputable brands.
"Scooter's Coffee is an emerging brand entering new markets at an unprecedented pace. When I joined Scooter's as COO last year, I immediately saw the opportunity to use my experience to guide the company through expansion," Cox stated. "It has been a pleasure to be with the company during this period of growth and discover the extreme level of existing talent at Scooter's, from the baristas to the store management and our knowledgeable corporate team."
Cox's expertise has been instrumental in solidifying and adding efficiencies to the company. Over the past year, he has made several key hires and strengthened infrastructure in many areas of the company, including distribution channels, sourcing and roasting of coffee and store-level operations.
In March, Cox brought in Rob Streett as Senior Vice President. With more than 20 years of experience, Streett brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in franchising and strategic development to the organization.
"Rob's leadership and industry experience will be tremendously valuable both in facilitating this rapid growth and providing strategic counsel across all development channels," said Don Eckles, Co-Founder and CEO of Scooter's Coffee. "We've added a large amount of talent to our team over the past year to ensure that we're primed and ready to make a big impact on the coffee industry nationwide."
Streett's resume boasts experience in both the coffee industry and national franchising. As the Director of Strategic Development at Starbucks during a major growth phase, he helped spearhead this growth through acquisition strategy, acquiring value-added product lines and market presence while also utilizing new business channels. He has also held executive and management positions in several national franchises, including Cold Stone Creamery, Mrs. Fields and TCBY.
In January, Cox also brought in Kelli Steidle as Vice President of Operations to ensure that the Scooter's brand remains strong throughout expansion efforts. Steidle, a former Brand Manager at ConAgra Foods, brought a number of specialized skills to Scooter's, including brand management, product innovation and development, consumer research and forecasting.
"When it comes to product innovation and flawless execution, Kelli is an absolute pro," said Cox. "She has the rare ability to identify talent and maximize resources at every level. With her leading the charge on operations, the Scooter's brand will shine at the national level."
These additions to the Scooter's executive team mark the latest move in the company's extraordinary growth. With more than 120 stores in nine states, Scooter's recently signed a large Area Development Agreement in Phoenix along with several other Multi-Unit Agreements in San Antonio, Atlanta, and Minneapolis. Historically, Scooter's opens an average of six stores per year. After spending the last year building a solid foundation, Scooter's currently has nearly 40 locations set to open by the end of 2015, and the list is still growing.
