Scoopshot Launches Latest Version of App
World-leader in on-demand, authentic, hyper-local, royalty-free imagery gets 'Social Make-Over'
NEW YORK, Oct. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Scoopshot, the global leader in crowdsourced mobile photo and video content, today released version 4.0 of its iOS and Android application, which includes the most significant changes to Scoopshot since the app launched in 2010. The upgrades will facilitate richer conversation and easier collaboration among Scoopshot's community of nearly 600,000 mobile contributors, 1,500 professionals and major publishers, brands and agencies from 177 countries worldwide.
A crowdsourcing platform with patent-pending authentication technology, Scoopshot helps news organizations and brands get on-demand access to great visual content – photos and videos – from all over the world, simply by creating a "task." Tasks can be global, national, local or even targeted hyper-locally, depending on the needs of publisher or brand. Scoopshooters around the world respond to tasks with authentic images in real-time based on the parameters set by the task creator.
What is unique about Scoopshot is not only its scale, but the platform itself, which gives clear boundaries of ownership for all content submitted, licensed or sold by the community, thus protecting photographers and videographers' rights to their images. Scoopshooters 100% own the images they create, until or unless they agree to license or sell what they create to one of the many publishers, brands or agencies using the platform.
The latest version of Scoopshot introduces a better social experience. Users can now view user portfolios and trending images from around the world, follow other users, contributors, publishers and brands, and display their photos and videos on new profile pages.
Petri Rahja, Founder and CEO of Scoopshot, commented: "This latest version of our app evolves our vision a step further – so the world can better see itself, at ever more local levels. And people can better see the world through the thousands of local eyes of our community. For them, it's all about discovery. It's also about being discovered." He continues: "This latest version is also just more fun, social and rewarding. It helps bubble-to-top some of the great visual content that previously was hidden, making for a better experience all around."
The new app also aims to improve reader and consumer engagement for Scoopshot's publishing and brand clients while dramatically reducing visual content costs. Clients in the US (such as USA Today Sports, Metro and The Tribune Company), UK (including London Evening Standard and Daily Star) and worldwide (such as TMG, WAZ, Philippine Star and News Ltd) are now able to grow communities of followers, create tasks for specific content categories (e.g. breaking news, sports, travel, food, fashion or weather) and let users vote for their favorite images. The social networking features will help media outlets and brands increase awareness of tasks, boost participation and ultimately source higher quality content.
Version 4.0 includes:
- Trending photos and videos from around the world
- Sharing your content without losing your rights
- Ability to follow other contributors, publishers and brands
- New profile pages that show-off your photos and videos
Scoopshot 4.0 is now available in the App Store and Google Play.
