MENOMONEE FALLS, Wisc., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Scion Dental, part of the SKYGEN USA family of distinguished benefit management companies, announced today that it has hired industry veteran Marcel Tetzlaff as Vice President of Dental Benefits Management.
Tetzlaff's extensive experience with large-scale commercial and government dental programs will be invaluable as he continues to build Scion Dental's industry-leading approach to delivering more appropriate and efficient care to more members. He will lead the team responsible for continually developing and executing groundbreaking approaches to dental benefit management, such as the company's Enhanced Benefit Management program which uses big data to regularly analyze its clients' markets and develop strategies that help them deliver unparalleled program stewardship.
"I am thrilled to join an organization that is at the forefront of dental benefit delivery innovation," Tetzlaff said. "Good dental health has been demonstrated to be critical to overall health, yet many times it is overlooked. By managing dental benefits more effectively, we can recognize and encourage dentists who are delivering exceptional care while reducing fraud, waste, and abuse, especially around the over-treatment of children within our nation's most vulnerable populations. With the right approach, we can direct the money where it will deliver the greatest return and everyone – payers, providers and patients – benefits."
Tetzlaff has more than 20 years of experience managing government and commercial healthcare and dental plans. Most recently, he served as Director of Program Implementation at Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin, a multi-system, clinically integrated accountable care network.
During Tetzlaff's tenure there, he oversaw all aspects of their Medicare Advantage program with payers and health systems, implemented best practices and operational standards across all health systems, and developed workflows, reports, education, training, and documentation for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), Risk Adjustment Factor (RAF), Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set (HEDIS) and other quality and efficiency measures.
Prior to that position, he was Regional Vice President of Provider Networks at DentaQuest, where he oversaw provider networks in 12 states and implemented pay-for-performance reimbursement models for providers. Mr. Tetzlaff earned his MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a focus in healthcare management. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
"Scion Dental is delighted to welcome Marcel, whose abilities and achievements align exceptionally well with our mission," said John Schaak, president of Scion Dental. "Scion Dental's technology, analytical, and benefit administration expertise, combined with Marcel's deep experience in efficiently managing large patient populations, will help us ensure every dollar spent on dental care will be used wisely."
