BIELEFELD, Germany, June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
- With "Schueco Green Pirates" and the "Energy Path", the Leading Provider of Pioneering Building Envelopes and Main Tournament Sponsor Focuses on Mixing Fun With Environmental Awareness
From 30 June - 3 July 2011, golf fans and their children will get their money's worth - at "The Princess by Schueco". As the chief sponsor of this professional tournament in the southern Swedish town of Bara, the company is extending its commitment to international golf. This tournament on the European Challenge Tour is above all about developing new golf talent. Swedish golf star and Schueco brand ambassador Henrik Stenson set up this particular event in 2009.

Schueco, however, is not only the main sponsor, it has also launched the "Schueco Green Pirates" initiative. Here, youngsters are introduced to the topic of energy in a fun way by performing tasks and testing their knowledge. The Schueco brand stands for Green Technology for the Blue Planet. That means clean energy from solar products and windows. Children should understand the connection between sustainably generated power and climate protection at an early age. "This is best achieved by getting them actively involved," explains Dirk U. Hindrichs, President and CEO of Schueco International KG. "That's why we are linking our commitment to golf with the communication of environmental awareness to the adults of tomorrow, where green is the defining colour and nature can be uniquely experienced - on the golf course.
Green ideas for the blue planet
In Bara, Schueco is working to bring even younger children closer to green technology through golf. The "Schueco Green Pirates" initiative is aimed at children between five and twelve years of age and is part of a comprehensive programme of events organised by the Swedish golf federation for young golfers and those new to the game. With various activities such as a driving range, putting green or short course, they can learn all about this increasingly popular sport and can even have a go themselves. Every child registered as a "green pirate" will receive a Schueco bandanna and a scorecard with information and exercises based around golf and energy. These can be completed on the so-called "Schueco Energy Path". Upon successfully completing this Energy Path, every "mini-professional" will receive a gift pack and a badge, making them part of the Schueco "Green Pirate Crew". If you would like to ensure places for your children, you can already register without obligation on the Schueco website at http://www.schueco.se/greenpirates.
Schueco brand ambassadors Kaymer and Stenson head-to-head
From 9 June, the leading provider of pioneering building envelopes is also making tickets available for the post-tournament Charity Challenge Match on 4 July 2011 between the Schueco brand ambassadors Martin Kaymer and Henrik Stenson. Tickets are available from the website http://www.schueco.se/princess. For father of two, Henrik Stenson, the man behind "The Princess", it's a special day. "That we are able to hold a third tournament thanks to Schueco has a special significance for me. Our future, in golf and elsewhere, belongs to our young people. It is therefore important that future generations take responsibility. And that will only happen when companies with vision are as committed as Schueco."

That means clean energy from solar products and windows. And the contribution that Schueco makes to the environment with pioneering building envelopes. To be more precise, with Energy3: saving energy - generating energy - networking energy. Window and facade systems not only save energy due to optimum thermal insulation, they also generate energy thanks to efficient solar solutions. This creates an excess of energy which can be used by means of intelligent networking. For building functions, as well as for everyday life. The result is a significant step towards energy self-sufficiency - towards the sustainable conservation of natural resources. And for a secure future. With 5,250 employees and 12,000 partner companies, Schueco is active in 78 countries and achieved turnover of 2.38 billion euros in 2010.
