Savannah College of Art and Design UX students demonstrate excellence and innovation in human-centered design
SAVANNAH, Ga., Dec. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is pleased to announce top honors in the student category of the 2017 UX Awards. The UX Awards are the first awards dedicated to showcasing the best in user experience (UX). The future-oriented awards honor innovators behind the digital products and services that define our world.
The winning student project, SPARK: An Autonomous Rehabilitation Platform, was designed to allow users to engage and make healthy progress in their recovery journey. An international group of five SCAD students from five different countries developed SPARK over the course of eight weeks. The winning team includes: HwangHah Jeong, James Simmons, Dipali Bajaj, Gonzo Gelso and Zhaolin Cai.
SCAD projects Seedly and LogistiX tied for honorable mention. SCAD students Cody Reppert, Jason Hwang, Inwon Jong, Noe Kennedy and Nolan Canady led Seedly, a wearable necklace for children that motivates them to continually grow and plant seeds every two weeks. Student Andrew Zanoni produced LogistiX, a speedy and human-centered delivery process that utilizes 21st-century technology to streamline delivery times.
The UX Awards aim to inspire, evangelize, honor the best, lead by example, reflect the community and show real value. The awards span all aspects of UX: product design, service design, interaction design, experience design, service design, design strategy, usability, user research, design thinking, information architecture, content strategy, UI design, and increasingly, industrial design and urban design when there is a digital component. Awards are determined with full transparency in the consensus judging process based on a rotating panel of expert judges, alongside public crowd voting.
