SANS Institute Las Vegas Security Training to Focus on Early Detection of Breaches and Controlling Damage
BETHESDA, Md., Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, will return to Las Vegas October 19 – 27 for its annual SANS Network Security 2014. The event will feature more than 40 hands-on, immersion-style security training courses taught by real-world practitioners. Top security experts from around the world will share details on the latest threats and provide action plans for building a defensible network.
"With new advanced and emerging threat vectors breaking into networks with relative ease, it is clear a different approach to security is required," said Dr. Eric Cole, keynote presenter and SANS Faculty Fellow. "Organizations must put in place an action plan for building a defensible network that includes early detection and controlling damage. SANS Network Security will arm attendees with a better understanding of what the advance persistent threat really is and how organizations can better prepare to fend off and respond-to potential attacks."
Among the many courses offered at SANS Network Security 2014 is the popular SEC660: Advanced Penetration Testing, Exploits, and Ethical Hacking course. Students with the prerequisite knowledge to take this course will walk through dozens of real-world attacks used by the most seasoned penetration testers. SANS also will offer the new SEC760: Advanced Exploit Development for Penetration Testers course for those wishing to hone their penetration testing skills even further. This course teaches the expertise required to reverse engineer 32-bit and 64-bit applications, perform remote user application and kernel debugging, analyze patches for 1-day exploits, and write complex exploits, such as use-after-free attacks, against modern software and operating systems.
Other new courses being offered at SANS Network Security 2014 include:
- SEC511: Continuous Monitoring and Security Operations (full/wait list)
- FOR526: Memory Forensics In-Depth
- ICS410: ICS/SCADA Security Essentials
- HOSTED: Embedded Device Security Assessments For The Rest Of Us
