SANS Announces Agenda for Pittsburgh Cyber Security Training Event
Hands-On Immersion Style Courses Available to Cyber Security Professionals at Every Level
BETHESDA, Md., April 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training and certifications, today announced the agenda for SANS Pittsburgh 2019 (#SANSPittsburgh) taking place in Pennsylvania July 8-13. Courses topics include cyber defense, SIEM, ethical hacking, penetration testing, digital forensics, audit, and ICS Security. Included on the agenda is an evening talk by cyber security expert Don C. Weber, "Assumed Breach Assessments: Using You Against You."
According to Weber, "Security assessments and penetration testing are a great start to understanding weaknesses in your network, but what happens when an attacker gains access? Have you ever wondered how far an attacker can get when they compromise your engineering or operator workstation/laptop? How easy is it to escalate privileges on a Human Resources desktop? What if the security controls you have in place are not as effective as you believe them to be? Join me in Pittsburgh where I will outline the aspects of an assumed breach assessment and why it should be a mandatory part of your security efforts, if it isn't already."
In addition to his evening talk, Weber will teach ICS410: ICS/SCADA Security Essentials. This course will equip security professionals and control system engineers with the cybersecurity skills they need to defend national critical infrastructure. Students will learn the language, underlying theory, and basic tools for industrial control system security in settings across a wide range of industry sectors and applications.
SANS Pittsburgh 2019 features hands-on immersion style courses for security professionals at every level. Courses will open students' eyes to new aspects of information security so they can better understand how to implement security layers to defend their organization from attacks. Courses offered include SEC401: Security Essentials Bootcamp Style, SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling, SEC555: SIEM with Tactical Analytics, and FOR500: Windows Forensic Analysis.
