Samsung Launches Galaxy S4 with Custom Templates Developed with Tencent's Story Camera for Enhanced Mobile Photography
SHENZHEN, China, July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung held a launch event for its new product Galaxy S4 Zoom in Beijing on July 2 following the recent launch in London. As a multifunctional smartphone with advanced photography capabilities, Galaxy S4 Zoom is equipped with a 16 mega pixel CMOS sensor and a 10x (24-240mm) optical zoom lens. Furthermore, in a move to attract an even broader range of enthusiasts, the smartphone is enhanced by optical anti-vibration technology and popular photographic applications, including Story Camera, a smart watermark-based photography application recently released by Tencent.
Samsung demonstrated the Android-based optical zoom smartphone and the custom templates for Galaxy S4 developed with Tencent's Story Camera, an enhancement feature which also made its debut at the launch event.
The Story Camera is a smart watermark-based photography app from Tencent. The app features more than 100 watermark templates including mood, location, weather, time, food, noise decibel level and air pollution index, enabling users to add personalized information to photos as a way of adding color as they memorialize their life events. The Story Camera went live on April 25, and moved into the top position as the most popular among all photography apps in Apple's App Store in China four days later, receiving five-star ratings from 92 percent of users.
The Story Camera is available in Android and iOS versions, and allows for sharing photos on China's most popular social sites including Qzone, Weixin, Tencent Weibo and Sina Weibo. The Story Camera 1.2 that will be launched in July will be able to measure height above sea level, speed and distance - a function that is not only compelling but also practical.
The Story Camera app designed custom templates were developed specially for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Zoom models. When these users open the app, it can automatically identify the models and import the matching watermark templates. In order to allow users to experience this practical and interesting app, Samsung has pre-installed the app in the demonstration mobile phones provided at the country's major terminal outlets and provides free download service in NFC stores.
Nowadays, what younger users need is not just photo-taking, but also the ability to share photos using social services through their mobile devices. The collaborative features between the app and Samsung mobile phones will provide users with improved mobile picture social services. The cooperation with Galaxy S4 Zoom is expected to transform the industry's traditional mindset on smart mobile phones and digital cameras, deeply integrating intelligence, communication and photography with social services.
