SAIC Awarded $19 Million Contract to Support Air Force F-16 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program
Company to Provide Innovative Engineering and Software System Support to Help Effectively Manage, Maintain and Enhance F-16 Mission Capability
MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the General Services Administration (GSA) Region 8 to provide engineering and software system services in support of the U.S. Air Force F-16 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP). The contract has a one year base period of performance, four one-year options and a total value of more than $19 million, if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily at Tinker Air Force Base (AFB), Okla., and Hill AFB and Layton, Utah.
The F-16 ASIP supports more than 1,100 aircraft by providing engineering services that are innovative, timely and cost effective. Under the contract, SAIC will continue to design, develop and enhance tools for the ASIP community, helping them conduct day-to-day decision making, as well as long term fleet planning and force management. SAIC will also gather data on the structural integrity of aircraft from different sources, and combine it into a single software tool used to help assess fleet health, forecast structural problems, and manage costs related to F-16 structural issues.
"The ASIP program is growing rapidly due to the F-16 fleet nearing original retirement dates, and the need to fly them beyond their design life," said Glenn San Giacomo, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to helping address this challenge by providing innovative software tools, systems engineering processes, and structural engineering analysis that will provide insight on fleet wide aircraft condition, and help develop strategies necessary to effectively manage, maintain and enhance F-16 mission capability."
