VERO BEACH, Fla., March 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Instead of sharing love on just one given day in February, the residents and associates of Sage Park Assisted Living and Memory Care championed an Acts of Kindness initiative for the entire month. Sage Park associates organized creative ways for assisted living and memory care residents to engage in acts of kindness and the opportunity to impact their hometown with a community food drive benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
Owned and operated by Watercrest Senior Living Group, Sage Park is one of many senior living communities involved in Watercrest's Common Unity initiatives. The Acts of Kindness program is the first of several themed initiatives this year to engage residents and associates in staying connected and positively influencing the needs of our hometowns.
At Sage Park Assisted Living and Memory Care, residents created heartfelt thank-you grams to deliver to staff expressing gratitude for their dedication and care. In return, the Sage Park associates organized a gourmet luncheon and special guests from Mary Kay. Residents were pampered with facials, struck a pose for glamour shots, and enjoyed an evening of lively salsa lessons.
"Kindness is a universal language that people of all walks and stages of life understand," says Hollie Kemp, Chief Experience Officer for Watercrest Senior Living Group. "Providing residents with the opportunity to communicate from the heart through good deeds is an honor for our team. These small acts spark joy, establish purpose, and create magical moments for all involved."
Over the course of the month, Sage Park residents, associates, family members and community partners rallied with enthusiasm in the collection of non-perishable food items. Residents assisted with preparing donation boxes and sorting food items. On February 28th, residents and staff proudly delivered 156 pounds of food to the donation center at Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando.
One in six central Floridians is struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Second Harvest Food Bank's mission is to create hope and nourish lives through a powerful hunger relief network, while multiplying the generosity of a caring community. Through community support and programs, Second Harvest continues to 'Feed, Empower, Nourish, and Engage' the community to help end hunger.
Sage Park is conveniently located at 1701 Ball Park Road in Kissimmee's Osceola Corporate Center. For information, call 407-900-2840 or visit www.sageparkseniorliving.com.
