SABIC CEO Al-Mady Named Co-Chairman of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council
VIENNA, Va., March 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council announced today that Mr. Mohamed H. Al-Mady, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Arabian petrochemical giant Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), has been named as the new Co-Chairman of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council, effective March 1, 2012. He succeeds Abdulaziz Al-Quraishi, CEO of Ali Al-Quraishi & Brothers Company, Ltd. Mr. Al-Mady has been a member of the Business Council's Board of Directors since 1998.
Mr. Al-Mady has been Vice Chairman and CEO of SABIC since July 1998. He joined SABIC in 1976, and since then has held various key positions within the company. Al-Mady has received many awards, including the Middle East CEO Award in 2005 and the International Petrochemical Heritage Award in 2009. He was elected by Colorado Engineering and Applied Sciences College to be honored among the gifted graduates with global scientific and industrial contributions in 2010.
Mr. Al-Mady is a Member of the International Advisory Councils for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, and Prince Mohammed bin Fahad University. He is also a Member of the National Industrial Clusters Development Program, the Supreme Council for the Armed Forces in Domestic Manufacturing, and the Economic Offset Committee. He is also Chairman of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association and Chairman and Managing Director for the Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Company. And, Mr. Al-Mady is a Member of the International Business Council for the World Economic Forum.
Eng. Al-Mady received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
Abdulaziz Al-Quraishi has been the Saudi Arabian Co-Chairman since the Business Council was established in 1993, and has been instrumental in steering the successful development of the Business Council over the past 18 years. The United States Co-Chairman of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council is Peter J. Robertson, Former Vice Chairman of Chevron.
