Ruth's Chris Steak House Tops Off 2018 Tastemaker Dinner Series With Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Final installation in this year's acclaimed wine-pairing dinner series to take place at participating locations on October 18
WINTER PARK, Fla., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruth's Chris Steak House will say cheers to an amazing 2018 TasteMaker Dinner series by honoring American icon, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. On October 18, select Ruth's Chris Steak House locations nationwide will host an exclusive five-course dining experience featuring pairings from the storied Napa Valley winery.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars made history in 1976 when its 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon placed first in the Judgment of Paris blind wine tasting, besting four top-ranked Bordeaux and forever changing the way the world viewed California wine.
"Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is a classic selection to top off our 2018 TasteMaker Dinner series," said Abdiel Aleman, Vice President of Culinary Development for Ruth's Chris Steak House. "The dinner will provide our guests with a taste of the winery's high-quality and collectible wines paired alongside a menu that pays homage to our restaurant's New Orleans heritage and classic steakhouse favorites."
The first course will feature a glass of the AVETA Sauvignon Blanc paired alongside Scallop Ceviche with a mango emulsion and a touch of cayenne to balance out the citrus notes of the wine. For the second course, guests will enjoy a glass of KARIA Chardonnay alongside an elevated take on a signature, Cajun dish—Jambalaya Risotto. A classic steakhouse favorite, braised short rib comprises the filling for a delicate, freshly-prepared Short Rib Ravioli for the third course for the evening. This course is enhanced by a glass of ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon—which is known for its enticing flavors of dark fruit and subtle oak undertones.
With the release of the 2015 FAY Cabernet Sauvignon, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is celebrating 25 years of FAY. In honor of this, for the main course Ruth's Chris will serve founder Ms. Ruth's personal favorite, prime New York Strip with a coffee-rub to enhance the cinnamon and lightly roasted coffee notes in the wine. With this pairing, guests will be transported to the FAY vineyard where the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars story began. Established by pioneering grape grower Nathan Fay in 1961, it was the first planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in what is now the Stags Leap District. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars made its first vintage of a single vineyard FAY Cabernet Sauvignon in 1990.
The evening will conclude with a Southern classic, Pecan Pie Cheesecake topped with a special spiked whipped cream and bourbon caramel sauce, which guests can enjoy with their selection of coffee or tea.
Ruth's TasteMaker Dinners bring together some of the most iconic and up-and-coming winemakers in the industry for a specially curated night of great food, storytelling and making memories around Ruth's signature 500-degree, sizzling plates. The October 18 dinner with Stag's Leap is the final installment for the 2018 series. Dates and partners for the 2019 Ruth's TasteMaker Dinners will be announced early next year.
