Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business Makes History with Florida's First Graduates of Executive Doctorate Program
WINTER PARK, Fla., Oct. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business became the first AACSB-accredited school in Florida to award an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA). The degree is designed for executives who have a graduate degree or equivalent qualifications and want to work full time while conducting research relevant to their careers. The first two graduates, Dr. Paul Kegel and Dr. Ash Shoeibi, will officially walk at Crummer's graduation in Spring 2017, and will go on to apply their studies and final dissertations to their respective industries.
Crummer EDBA students focus on research that can be immediately applied to specific business issues to further advance their careers. Crummer's EDBA program consists of a three-year experience during which a small cohort meets on-campus one weekend per month, culminating with a year-long dissertation that analyzes problems or challenges faced in students' industries which can be applied to resolve issues in their organizations.
"We are honored to present Dr. Paul Kegel and Dr. Ash Shoeibi with this prestigious degree and know it will position them both to be thought-leaders and game-changers in their fields," said Dr. Deborah Crown, Dean of Rollins College Crummer School of Business. "The small group, in-classroom experience coupled with an intersection of theory and real-world business skills truly sets Crummer's program apart from all other EDBA programs."
Crummer EDBA Graduates:
Dr. Paul Kegel, Founder, Kegel & Associates
Paul Kegel is the founder of Kegel & Associates, a company that specializes in the interior planning and design of commercial, retail, and institutional facilities. Dr. Kegel decided to pursue a doctorate in business after identifying a need for scientific research and analysis to drive interior design solutions that help organizations and employees be more effective. Dr. Kegel chose to attend Crummer's EDBA program while looking for an academic experience that included in-classroom learning on a full-time executive schedule. His dissertation research found a correlation between employee perceptions of their work environments and their levels of engagement, performance, well-being and commitment to the organization. As a result of his doctoral research, Dr. Kegel will expand the services provided by his company and will use 'design thinking' and individualized scientific research to analyze and understand an organization's unique DNA and make suggestions to improve work environments.
Dr. Ash Shoeibi, Director of Global Analytics, Dell
Dr. Ash Shoeibi currently drives global analytics for Dell.com, Dell's multi-billion dollar e-commerce platform operating in over 120 countries. Dr. Shoeibi's team, which spans across four continents, is responsible for the analytics and insights that directly drive Dell's e-commerce strategy including website features and design to facilitate a seamless consumer experience, sales and marketing strategy through predictive, algorithmic analytics and go-to-market strategies via actionable insights tied to Dell's strategic priorities. While leading North America insights and analytics for Brambles, a global leader in supply chain and logistics, Dr. Shoeibi saw an opportunity to apply predictive analytics to the firm's management of over 550 million pallets, crates and containers across the 60 countries in which it operates. Dr. Shoeibi decided an EDBA at Crummer would enable him to tie doctoral-level research methods to practical, real-world application of business challenges and also elevate his competitive advantage in the job market. The EDBA began paying off immediately, as Dr. Shoeibi went on to lead strategic insights and analytics at GolfNow, a part of NBCUniversal and the leading online tee time and golf course technology and services platform in the world. Dr. Shoeibi recently defended his dissertation on the impact of ancillary fees on consumers' decision to purchase or abandon their cart – research that was directly rooted in his work, and immediately applied to GolfNow's consumer strategy.
Enrollment is now open for executives to apply for the cohort that begins in fall of 2017. Crummer encourages prospective students to schedule one-on-one meetings either in-person or via phone by calling 407.646.2405 or emailing [email protected].
