CHICAGO, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rocketmiles, the first service to provide travelers with thousands of airline miles per hotel booking, today announced its public launch after a two month private beta. Frequent travelers across the country can now earn tens of thousands of frequent flier miles for their hotel stays, making it easier for them to vacation more frequently and to more distant destinations.

Well over 25 million U.S. consumers stock away miles and points to fund their wanderlust with the vast majority coming from flights and credits cards. Rocketmiles has developed a lucrative additional option. According to initial beta results, Rocketmiles customers earn an average of 7,000 miles or points per booking at select premium hotels while paying the same price as they would with online travel agencies. Hotel partners fill rooms that would have otherwise gone unused with premium business travelers.
"We learned from the Rocketmiles beta that the average frequent traveler stands to earn an extra 80,000 reward miles or points per year that they can put toward another vacation," said Jay Hoffmann, CEO/Cofounder of Rocketmiles and former Managing Director at Mileage Plus. "That's the difference between celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans or celebrating Mardis Gras in Rio; a beachside cocktail in Miami or one in St. Tropez; a trip to play golf at Pebble Beach or a trip to both Pebble and Torrey Pines."
Rocketmiles currently lists hotels in 15 major U.S. cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Honolulu, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington DC., with more being added weekly. The premium properties displayed within each destination have been hand selected by experienced travelers for inclusion on the site. Rocketmiles is beginning with a focus on hotel bookings, which constitute approximately $50 billion of the $220 billion U.S. business travel industry.
Rocketmiles has assembled a strong team of travel, loyalty, and technology veterans. Advising the team are Scott Hintz (TripIt Co-founder, Hotwire SVP of Product), Drew Patterson (Room77 CEO, Jetsetter Co-founder), Jere Doyle (Prospectiv Founder, Eversave CEO), and Evan Konwiser (Flightcaster Founder).
