Rob Siegfried Delivers Impactful Convocation Speech at the University of Delaware's Lerner College of Business and Economics

WILMINGTON, Del., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert L. Siegfried, Jr., CPA, Chief Executive Officer and President of The Siegfried Group, LLP, was chosen by the University of Delaware's Lerner College as its 2014 undergraduate convocation speaker.

When asked to speak to the graduating class, Rob was both honored and challenged by the opportunity. As the day approached, he thought about a message that would resonate with lasting value to this group of students.  Rob emphasized three key elements for all professionals, not only when starting out, but also throughout their careers: (1) be ambitious, (2) get out of your comfort zone, and (3) seek mentors in unexpected places, while being humble enough to get out of your own way to listen to them.

Rob delivered convocation speeches at both business school graduation ceremonies to a group of 775+ students graduating with concentrations that included:  Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, Marketing, and Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management. His addresses focused on providing the graduates with his thoughts on how to pursue their bigger future.  "It's so important to do something that is tied to your passion...because if you follow your passion, you will be motivated, and when you are most motivated, you will be most successful, eventually coming to love what you do...finding a life you love," began Rob as he addressed the graduates.

Rob also spoke about the importance of individual freedom, responsibility and accountability. He offered a pocket copy of the US Constitution & Declaration of Independence to most of the 5,000+ who attended the ceremonies. "Today is a day of great freedom and great responsibility. Our founding fathers have left you with a legacy of individual liberty...a nation where you can go as far as your ambition and determination will take you. The University of Delaware has given you an incredible foundation on which to build your future. Your degree and your education will open many doors, but the rest is up to you."

Rob received the University of Delaware's prestigious Wall of Fame award in 2002, which recognizes a select few graduates from all Colleges within the University.  In 2012, Rob became the Chair of the Advisory Board for the Lerner College of Business & Economics at the University of Delaware, where he has served as an advisor since 2004.  "Rob's ability to share his ideas and provide insightful leadership as our Advisory Board Chair is of great value for Lerner College and I deeply value our relationship," commented Bruce Weber, Dean of Lerner College, University of Delaware, as he wrapped up the day's commencement ceremony.
