MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMCL) is pleased to announce that Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois has selected the company's award-winning suite of automated solutions to further enhance medication security and safety to help improve quality of care in the facility's main hospital. Together, Omnicell and Riverside will further reinforce the hospital's presence as a leader in excellent care for North East Illinois.
As a Top 100 Hospital® performing within the top five percent of hospitals nationwide, Riverside Medical Center is widely recognized for using the latest technology to provide high quality of care.1 A long-term customer of Omnicell's supply chain solutions, stakeholders at Riverside have been highly satisfied with the Company's outstanding customer service. When plans for a new pharmacy and hospital floor were announced, the pharmacy team at Riverside felt that Omnicell was the best choice to help reach their goals for improved medication management and security, and expand what has proven to be a successful partnership.
"A huge factor in this decision was reliability and streamlining workflows for our nursing and pharmacy teams," said Emily Meyer, director of pharmacy at Riverside Healthcare. "Knowing that my facility will have the automation system that has received the highest KLAS ranking for the past 11 years reassures my team and me that we are on the right path to increasing both employee and patient satisfaction, along with improving compliance."
New features on the Omnicell® XT Automated Dispensing Cabinet helped impact the decision, including interoperability with the Epic electronic health record system, which removes redundant tasks and enables nurses to spend more time with patients. Additionally, Riverside will be outfitting its newly constructed central pharmacy with automation and software solutions that will provide enhanced safety, security, tracking capabilities, and improved pharmacy workflow.
"All of us at Omnicell are proud of this unique opportunity to expand our partnership with Riverside Medical Center to coincide with the addition of their new hospital floor and central pharmacy," said J. Christopher Drew, president of North American Automation and Analytics, at Omnicell. "Together, we are committed to streamlining workflow between the pharmacy and nursing teams while ultimately helping to provide the highest level of safety to Riverside's patients."
Riverside Medical Center has plans to install the first round of Omnicell automated solutions during the opening of their new Neurology and Orthopedic floor this December, continuing further implementations into 2018.
