RIMES to Host Second Annual Data Governance Conference in New York City
Investment management practitioners to discuss costs, risks and challenges of benchmark data management for the buy-side
NEW YORK, September 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
RIMES, the leading provider of managed data services for the buy-side, will host its second annual Data Governance Conference in New York on October 23, 2014. The event will take place at the newly renovated NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square. A second Conference will take place in London on November 4, 2014.
The RIMES Data Governance Conference is an event that gathers asset managers, custodian banks, pension funds, insurance companies and other asset owners together to share insights, engage in healthy discussion and exchange best practices on the key issues that impact the industry as a result of the growing complexities and frequency of data. Now in its second year, the RIMES Data Governance Conference will continue to provide a spotlight on the business case for data governance by confronting data management challenges and offering solutions to ensure that firms improve efficiency and profitability while responding to existing and emerging industry regulations.
With the increased buy-side focus on data quality, management and cost, the invitation-only event serves as a response to these demands and looks to aid firms in their efforts to develop strategies to gain control of their data. With increasing data volumes come a diverse number of complex uses from a growing number of originators. Additionally, appeasing the regulatory call for transparency is proving to be immensely difficult for firms who have not yet employed a data governance structure.
Presentations will be led by experts from State Street Bank, UBS Global Asset Management, Gartner, Cutter Associates, NASDAQ OMX and RIMES. In addition to discussing topics such as the increasingly complex regulatory landscape and their impact on data management, data licensing and why governance matters, featured sessions will also explore: what the data challenge means and how firms can conquer it; how to implement a scalable, agile and manageable data infrastructure and how to achieve buy-in from senior decision makers within firms; a look into the true costs of market data and tips on how to manage these costs; and new developments in Data Governance Services and how this could help your firm achieve true data governance.
"The goal of this conference is to offer attendees key insights into the issues around data governance in the buy-side and the emerging trend towards the adoption of new operating models," explains Steve Cheng, Global Head of Data Management Solutions at RIMES. "Investment management firms are increasingly challenging traditional data management strategies which often fail to meet the increasingly complex and accelerated demands of the business. We are excited to continue to provide an opportunity to discuss these challenges as well as help guide asset managers on how they can regain the initiative in data governance and management."
