Revel Systems Caps Strong First Year With Launch of First Online Marketplace for iPad Point-of-Sale System and Integration of "Daily Deal" Redemptions
iPad Point-of-Sale Leader Hits Profitability with 400 U.S. Enterprise Locations; Brings Groupon, LivingSocial and Other "Daily Deal" Redemptions Directly to POS System Platform
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Revel Systems, the leader in iPad point-of-sale (POS) solutions, today rounded off a highly successful first year with the launch of the very first iPad Marketplace for POS System plugs-ins. This allows Revel customers to easily integrate with third party apps and plug-ins – including Facebook and Groupon – directly from the POS system to further increase the functionality and ROI of the system. This announcement marks the latest in a string of successes in an inaugural year marked by rapid growth, multiple big name partnerships and customer wins, and now also profitability.
"We're delighted with our progress in our first year of operation," said Lisa Falzone, CEO and co-founder of Revel Systems. "Clearly, our iPad POS solution is the right product at the right time, taking advantage of a happy convergence of trends in technology and the marketplace. We're excited to see what year Revel Systems' Marketplace, r two will bring for us and customers."
Introducing Marketplace for iPad POS
Revel Systems' first-of-its-kind marketplace for iPad POS solutions, called takes POS systems to a whole new level. Whereas legacy POS systems are not equipped to "talk" virtually, Revel Systems' cloud-based nature allows businesses to directly access third party apps and plug-ins with ease straight from the POS system to optimize functionality and increase ROI of the system. Users of Revel's iPad POS system can now access the Marketplace directly from the POS system, select the apps and plug-ins they would like to integrate into their system, and use to their benefit. For example, a sandwich shop can select Facebook and Twitter from the Marketplace and then send out a social media message to its "friends" and "followers" in real time saying that they are having a special on pastrami sandwiches to drive traffic on a slow day. The real-time, cloud-based nature of the system removes all barriers for virtual plug-ins for brick-and-mortar establishments, allowing them to easily connect online like never before.
Also as part of the Marketplace, Revel Systems has announced it is the first iPad point-of-sale solution to integrate into local daily deal APIs, including Groupon and LivingSocial, making the redemptions possible directly from the POS. Whereas the printable nature of such redemptions have proved problematic and susceptible to fraud through multiple uses, Revel Systems has created a one-time use code system for users to upload all redemption codes directly into the POS system, so that when a customer comes to redeem the coupon the users can simply scan the code into POS ensuring the deal is valid for a single use only. This new solution will not only help to speed up process of redeeming such offers at a POS station, it will also put a stop to fraud for redemptions. The Marketplace also is compliant with local and regional tax laws for deal discounts like Groupon and LivingSocial, a feature not supported on any other POS system.
Currently available plug-ins include solutions for online ordering (Zuppler), payment (LevelUp and Dwolla), gift and reward cards (Groupon, LivingSocial, GiveX, Valutec, Perkville), reporting (Ctuit), digital menus (Digital Menu Me), kiosk solutions, mobile payment and social media integration (Facebook and Twitter).
