Registration Now Open for Pennsylvania Small Businesses Expo on City, State, Federal Contracting Opportunities
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Registration is now open for the 3rd Annual Small Business Expo – an event to help business owners navigate the process for government contracting, the state Department of General Services announced today.
The expo, slated for May 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farm Show Complex, 2301 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg, is a collaborative effort among the state departments of General Services and Public Welfare, the City of Harrisburg and the Naval Supply Systems Command.
A highlight of the expo will be assistance to smaller firms in their efforts to compete for government contracts. Contracting specialists will be onsite for workshops to explain local, state and federal processes for construction, procurement and certification, as well as where and how to identify contracting opportunities.
Department of General Services Deputy Secretary for Procurement, Kenneth A. Rapp, Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson, Department of Public Welfare Deputy Secretary for Administration Karen Deklinski and Assistant Commander for Financial Management and Comptroller, Naval Supply Systems Command, Karen Fenstermacher will speak during the opening session, while Department of Navy Director of Small Business Sean Crean will provide luncheon remarks and Sara Manzano-Diaz, Regional Administrator for the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Mid-Atlantic Region will provide the luncheon keynote.
Innovative workshops will be held discussing certification procedures for construction, the use of electronic media to market and network your business, roundtable discussions on best practices for small businesses and focused opportunities at the local, state and federal levels for contracting. There will also be time during the day for networking and visiting exhibitors.
