This past October, which was Breast Cancer Awareness month, Regis Corporation salons, stylists, guests and business partners came together during the company's annual Clip for the Cure campaign to raise money for breast cancer research. The campaign's highlight was a daylong haircutting event held on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Stylists at over 7,000 corporate salons throughout the country gave more than 225,000 haircuts to guests, with a portion of those proceeds going to The Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. In addition, guests helped raise funds by purchasing limited-edition "pink" products and donating to the cause.
After this year's Clip for the Cure campaign, The Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research donated $400,000 to Mayo Clinic to fight this devastating disease.

One out of every eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. About 75 percent of these cancers are classified as estrogen-receptor positive and are commonly treated with the drug tamoxifen. This year's Regis Foundation donation supports Matthew Goetz, M.D., a Mayo Clinic oncologist who is working with the National Cancer Institute to develop endoxifen, a drug to treat women with breast cancer that is resistant to standard hormonal based therapies.
