Recovery Brands Finds Nearly 40 Percent More People Search for Addiction Treatment in New Year
Additional research unveils desired treatment offerings for individuals receiving treatment
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Recovery Brands today shares that search activity for addiction treatment increases by nearly 40 percent after the first of the year. The findings are based on internal data from the company, whose portfolio of websites attracts nearly 4 million visitors a month. Recovery Brands' additional research shows that for individuals receiving treatment, internal aspects of treatment, most specifically group counseling, are highly prioritized.
"Over 30 percent of individuals cite family and friends as the primary factor in seeking treatment," said Ruchi Sanghani, director of research at Recovery Brands. "So coming off the heels of a time of year where friends and families are gathering much more often, it's not surprising that we find more people are actively pursuing treatment as the new year begins."
According to the company's previously published research in the International Archives of Addiction Research and Medicine, alumni prioritize different treatment offerings as compared to their friends and family. Friends and family of individuals seeking treatment place a greater emphasis on amenities and offerings, family involvement, price and treatment offerings, while alumni find group counseling, counseling, peers and staff to be more important.
"It's important to explore the needs and preferences of individuals receiving treatment," said Sanghani. "By doing so, the addiction treatment industry can understand how to best serve consumers and elevate practices, while friends and families can understand how to best support loved ones. Ultimately, all of this plays a role in increasing positive treatment outcomes."
