COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A great idea isn't enough to guarantee startup success. Startup leaders must scale up quickly, and that means they have to tell their story in a compelling way and manage media relationships effectively. At this year's Colorado Springs Startup Week, which runs from August 20-24, experts from the local branch of national digital PR agency SSPR will share the secrets of scaling up through storytelling and savvy media management, growth-focused PR, business development basics, client communication skills and more, joined by SSPR CEO Heather Kelly.
On Monday, August 20, SSPR speakers will participate in a panel discussion entitled, "The Shark Tank Effect: The Harsh Reality," which addresses what it takes to scale up in the real world. At 5:00 p.m. on Monday, SSPR will host a happy hour and networking workshop at its local office, with improv exercises to help entrepreneurs nail business introductions. The happy hour includes complimentary beer, wine and light snacks.
On Tuesday, SSPR is leading a growth track session on effective brand development — a must for startups with hypergrowth goals. On Wednesday, SSPR will host a multi-session "Almost Famous" workshop, covering the topics of why startups need PR, how to tell the company's story, how to become an industry thought leader and methods for successfully handling media interviews.
On Thursday, a "Biz Dev for Newbies" session will feature Kelly and discuss important skills for lead generation and closing new deals. SSPR will also host and participate in a panel discussion on using social media to drive conversions and co-present a session on creating a great company culture. On Friday, Kelly and Geri Johnson, SVP of Innovation at SSPR, will deliver the final keynote discussion, "Looking Ahead: Build Your Future Vision." The session will focus on how visionary thinking and goal-setting drive growth.
"As Startup Week demonstrates every year, the entrepreneurial spirit is as at home in the Rockies as it is in Silicon Valley," said Kelly. "At SSPR, our mission is to use our creativity, connections and media savvy to help clients tell their stories, so they can scale up and grow. We're thrilled to join the Colorado Institute for Social Impact (CI4SI), Pikes Peak Workforce Center (PPWFC) and Peak Startup to engage local startup teams and make entrepreneurs aware of the support they have right here in Colorado Springs."
"We've got an amazing startup ecosystem in the Pikes Peak region, and local resources like SSPR's Colorado Springs office provide the world-class expertise our innovators need to scale up rapidly," said Natasha Main, executive director at Peak Startup. "I'm excited to work with Heather and the local SSPR team to make Colorado Springs Startup Week a huge success and to provide our entrepreneurs with the know-how they need to thrive in a competitive marketplace."
