WAUSAU, Wis., Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rasmussen College School of Education has offered opportunities to the Head Start programs in the State of Wisconsin to provide continuing education through the development of a unique Child Development Associate (CDA). Studies indicate there is a direct correlation between the amount of education a teacher has and the quality of care and education provided for young children and families. Rasmussen College has offered to provide the full CDA lifecycle – from initial application packet, through CDA assignments, to final application to the Council for Professional Recognition.

"High quality early childhood care and education is a direct result of the commitment we make to educating our workforce," said Cecelia Westby, Rasmussen College Dean of the School of General Education. "The Child Development Associate provides a solid foundation for future degree opportunities through Rasmussen College."
By September 2013, Early Head Start and Head Start teaching assistants must have a CDA, be enrolled in a CDA Prep Program, have an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, or be enrolled in an ECE Associate Degree program. The Rasmussen College CDA Prep Program directly aligns with these new federally mandated education and training requirements for these Head Start employees.
"With over 27 million children served to date nationally, Head Start is making a positive impact on the lives of at-risk children across the country," said Joyce Monfort, Rasmussen College Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator. "Rasmussen College is excited to play a part in providing continuing education to those teaching our nation's children."
The CDA Prep Program is a great introduction to Early Childhood Education and is provided fully online to support the needs of working professionals. After completion of the CDA Prep Program, Head Start teaching assistants can choose to continue on to earn their Early Childhood Education Certificate and Associate's Degree.
