Ramsey McGrory Promoted To President As Scout Joins Top Sports Sites In Engagement
NEW YORK, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Scout Inc., America's sports and men's lifestyle digital media network, today announced Ramsey McGrory's promotion to President, Sales and Publishing. In his expanded role, Mr. McGrory will oversee all advertising sales, publishing and marketing for the company. McGrory joined Scout earlier this year and quickly helped transform the company as a leading publisher of premium sports and lifestyle content creator and distributor. James Heckman, founder and CEO of Scout, made the announcement. Heckman and McGrory first worked together when the two were senior executives at Yahoo!.
"Ramsey's organizational and leadership intensity, and his ability to gain the respect and lead people who've worked together for years within our unique sports-network model, is a game-changer for us," said Mr. Heckman. "Expanding Ramsey's talent and influence across the key drivers of our business, internally and externally, is a priority for us and so the President title is well deserved."
Scout also announced significant growth in traffic engagement as a leading male-focused network. In three short months since re-launching, Scout's user engagement is 2nd only to ESPN, according to comScore's November reports (measured by minutes/user per day). Said Mr. McGrory: "I'm excited to be in start up mode – we are David among many Goliaths. Our competitors have spent billions of dollars building their brands. With our authentic and influential writers, which includes ten Heisman trophy voters, Outdoor Sports writers with decades of experience, and unique access to teams nationwide, we're 2nd in user engagement and on track to surpass ten million users."
"There's a reason Scout is the only non-TV-network product with this kind of engagement." Heckman added, "and it's no accident millions of fans spend, on average, over ten minutes per session on Scout – three times greater than that of our most direct competitors Bleacher Report and SB Nation. Our veteran, press-credentialed journalists and 'scouts' produce all of our content directly from the field, and the quality speaks for itself. Consumers want authenticity, original content, and to associate with the teams, sports and lifestyle they hold dear to their hearts. Brands want to associate directly to these passion points and Scout is uniquely positioned to deliver on this need."
Prior to Scout, McGrory was CEO of AddThis, and ran Right Media and data partnerships for Yahoo!. He is an outdoorsman, a Gulf War veteran, active in the Clinton Foundation and co-founder of Billions.org
